If you are reading this, then you are probably bored right now - maybe just sitting on a couch trying to get a hobby, or maybe you are just reading your favorite book for the upteenth time trying to pretend that you don't know what's going to happen when your favorite character finds out he's adopted and runs away from home. Or maybe your whole body is sore from squinting over your phone all day trying to find the best position to lay in. Hey, remember that time you said you wished school didn't exist? Yeah, well...sometimes if you wish upon a star your wish just might come true…
Anyways, on a completely unrelated topic, have you realized how much of a change this shelter in place stuff brought to our world? I believe that it is affecting almost everyone's daily routine. By schools, stores, and restaurants all around the world being closed, people and workers have been affected greatly by this. Not only are some people unable to make money but everyday feels like a Time Warp. Of course there are side effects to that, such as stress eating and boredom, which is what we're here to talk about.
One thing to take into consideration is that you are probably having a hard time figuring out what to do when you're bored. If you are drowned in a mountain of things to do than you are more likely to get bored. However, if you have very little around you then this is the time that boredom might turn into creativity. It may seem like a pain, but a good thing to do is start downsizing. If your room is cluttered or filled with stuff that you never use then you may be getting pretty overwhelmed. With fewer possessions to have to worry about, you will find yourself less stressed.
Another thing to think about is the amount of time you've spent indoors. If you realize that you are basically just a lifeless zombie, and you haven't been outside in a long time then the best thing you can do is go for a walk (with a mask), or maybe even just sit in your yard for a few minutes. This could spark some ideas in you or make you feel like you accomplished something. As much as you probably don't want to go on a walk right now ask yourself: What else do I have to do that is so important right now? If the answer is nothing, (which it most likely is) then there's nothing to lose and you should probably take a break from whatever you are doing and get some fresh air.
Find a passion or a hobby. This may be a little bit strange at first because you probably won't find something you enjoy doing for a while, but if you see something that you really like the idea of then you should try it out. For you this could be drawing or coloring or maybe even just listening to music. You should probably find something else to do other than watching YouTube all day. For example, if you have an instrument laying around in your house you could try to find some online lessons that you like and try to learn an instrument. Another thing you could try to do is learn a new language (or at least some of one).It would feel nice coming out of this having learned something new.
If you are still not satisfied or you are still overwhelmed then you probably didn't try going for a walk (that really helps). Make sure you are staying safe inside. :)
